Kassams drive Jews from Negev homes
Hamas Authority insists target of rocket attack is 'occupied territory'

The Palestinian Arabs have taken note of their successes culminating in last summer's Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and are now driving Jews from their homes directly with increasingly frequent rocket attacks on communities beyond the borders of the volatile coastal strip.
While most of the rockets fired ? and an average of at least one rocket is fired every day ? miss their targets and fail to result in any Israeli casualties, the Gaza-based Arab killers on Friday managed to score a direct hit on a mobile home in Kibbutz Karmiya in the Western Negev region.
A seven-month-old baby boy was seriously wounded with multiple skull fractures and brain hemorrhaging, and his father and uncle suffered more moderate injuries.
A day later their neighbors - 54 families in all, most of them refugees from Gaza's Katif Bloc ? relocated en masse to nearby Ashkelon, decrying their own government's failure to adequately defend them against the ?Palestinian? aggression it promised would subside following the ?disengagement.?
Anat Ben-Ami, a frustrated Karmiya resident, told Ynet:
?There was always the sense that people were waiting for disaster to strike, but now that it has, we still don't see the authorities waking up to help us out.?
The Palestinian Authority, in what appeared to be a nod to the platform of its new Hamas masters, made special note that it views the targeted community and the nearby city of Ashkelon as ?occupied? Arab territories, and the Jewish victims as ?settlers.?
As reported by the Palestinian National Authority State Information Service:
?Four settlers, including a toddler, were injured when the missile hit a house in Askalan city, occupied and seized since 1948.?
Israel initially responded with its typical shelling of the by-then empty northern Gaza fields from which the attack was launched, a tactic which has clearly failed to deter the terrorists.
An air strike launched a day later against a Fatah facility in Gaza City left three members of the group dead and at least five wounded.
