Annan tries to curtail war on terror

Suggests 'Palestinian' killers of Jews deserve trial, not death

Israel has no right to target and kill Palestinian Arab terrorists who are planning and participating in activities aimed at mass murdering Israeli Jewish men, women and children ? that is if anyone on this side of the fence takes seriously the declarations of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Precision Israeli air strikes and the vigilance of IDF soldiers guarding the Gaza Strip security fence have resulted in the elimination of 10 armed and wanted terrorists since Saturday night.

The soft-spoken UN chief reacted by releasing the following statement through his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric:

?While recognizing Israel's right to defend its citizens, targeted killings place innocent bystanders at grave risk and amount to executions without trial.?

Israeli Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert ordered the current limited Gaza offensive in response to increased terrorist rocket fire from the strip on nearby Jewish towns. Several people have been wounded in the bombardments, including a seven-month-old boy who sustained serious head trauma.

Unsurprisingly, Annan and the international community at large have had little to say about the Arab aggression, which would certainly be deemed unacceptable if the target were any nation other than Israel.
