Sharon: Islam a cruel, inhumane enemy

The forces of Islamic terrorism arrayed against Israel and the West are a “cruel enemy that lacks any sense of humanity,” Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told Israel’s Knesset Tuesday.

His comments came just hours after “Palestinian” Muslim terrorists killed six IDF soldiers in the Gaza Strip, and then stole their body parts to use as bargaining chips.

Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom told Israel Radio that the Jewish state was facing an enemy that behaved like animals.

This bestial Islamic violence was not directed at Israel alone.

Last week forces fighting against the liberating coalition in Iraq beheaded an American civilian they had captured days earlier. His gruesome murder was broadcast over the internet for all to see.

Cruel, inhumane enemy

Israel and those Western nations that share its values are facing a “cruel” and inhumane enemy in Islamic terrorism, Sharon said during a special Knesset session Tuesday to commemorate the defeat of Nazi Germany.

"Today we received a painful reminder of the price that we are paying in the defense of our country and its citizens,” Sharon said just hours after six IDF soldiers were killed during an anti-terror operation in Gaza City.

Following the attack on their armored personnel carrier, the soldiers’ body parts were stolen by “Palestinian” Muslim terrorists to be used as bargaining chips.

“We are fighting a cruel enemy that lacks any sense of humanity,” he said.

Sharon warned that the victory over the evil hatred of the Nazis would not be complete until the world banded together to defeat this new global threat.

"Fifty nine years later, we are still fighting against the same type of racism and hatred, against anti-Semitism and denial.”

Opposition leader Shimon Peres agreed, saying partisan politics was secondary to the need to stand together and battle the “Bin Ladens” and “Hamasnikim” of the world.

Sharon vowed that Israel would “continue to fight and harm that enemy everywhere it is active or hiding.”

Animal behavior

Speaking on Israel Radio Wednesday, Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom referred to the “Palestinians” who stole the dead soldiers’ bodies as “animals.”

"Some people still say that Palestinians act in this brutal and animalistic way because they are under occupation, but let us not forget that the lynching of Jews and the brutality against Jews and the bodies of Jews has been going on for over one hundred years,” the foreign minister said.

He recalled the Arab Muslim massacre of Jewish civilians throughout the Palestine Mandate in 1929, as well as countless other atrocities committed before and since.

This type of barbaric behavior was not directed against Israel alone, however.

Last week in Iraq, forces battling the US-led liberation coalition captured and beheaded an American civilian contractor.

The killers filmed themselves cutting off the head of 26-year-old Nick Berg as they chanted “Allahu Akbar” – “Allah is great.” The gruesome murder was broadcast over the Internet.

‘Worst yet to come’

One expert believes Islamic terrorism against the West is poised to increase, and will continue unabated for at least the next century.

"If you ask me whether the worst is yet to come, the answer is definitely yes," Professor Yonah Alexander, director of the Inter-Universities Center for Terrorism Studies, told The Jerusalem Post .

"We can expect to see an escalation in terrorism on a global scale with a continuation of conventional acts of terror, such as suicide bombings and shooting, as well as mega-terror like September 11 in the US and March 11 in Spain,” said Alexander, who has studied the subject for over 40 years and published more than 100 books on terrorism.

Alexander warned that Islamic terrorists would increasingly “move towards the use of non-conventional weapons” in their quest to murder as many Jews and Christians as possible.
