Hamas seeking Iranian missiles

Looks to put all Israel within striking distance

The Hamas-led Palestinian Authority is looking to acquire Iranian-built medium-range Fajr-4 or Fajr-5 missiles in order to put nearly all Israel within striking distance, and thus disrupt the current balance of power, according to military sources interviewed by Middle East Newsline.

The PA is using the ongoing IDF incursion into Gaza as a backdrop for appeals to both Iran and its Lebanese proxy, Hizb'allah, to start smuggling the missiles into Gaza via Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, said one source.

"Hamas badly wants to change the balance of power with Israel and believes that the Fajr could be the answer."

With a range of up to 200 kilometers, the Fajr-5 could easily hit all of Greater Tel Aviv and the Jerusalem area from the Gaza Strip. It is also far more accurate than the Kassam rockets presently being employed by the "Palestinians" against Jewish towns in the Negev region.

Hizb'allah is said to already have Fajr-5 missiles deployed in southern Lebanon, putting all of northern Israel under threat of attack from Hamas' terrorist allies.

Another source quoted by Middle East Newsline warned the likelihood of Fajr-5 missiles making their way into Gaza in the near future is dangerously high.

"Hizbullah has managed to smuggle the Grad [an advanced Russian-made Katyusha rocket] into the Gaza Strip. There's no reason why they won't try to smuggle the Fajr as well."
