Terrorists try to stretch Israel's forces

Simultaneous violence in Gaza, Judea-Samaria and Lebanon will test abilities

Israel's Muslim foes are clearly trying to stretch the Jewish state's forces and hamper its ability to deal militarily with the mounting terrorist threat by launching simultaneous waves of aggression from the Gaza Strip, Judea-Samaria and southern Lebanon.

The Jewish state has been engaged in a sustained ground and air offensive in Gaza since the abduction of IDF Corporal Gilad Shalit by Hamas and its allies 18 days ago. That operation, dubbed "Summer Rains," is also aimed at halting incessant terrorist rocket attacks on Jewish towns in the vicinity of the coastal strip.

Wednesday morning Israel was forced to fight on a second front when Hizb'allah forces based in southern Lebanon assaulted northern Israel and abducted two more IDF soldiers. Seven other soldiers were killed during the Hizb'attack.

WorldNetDaily's Aaron Klein later reported that Hizb'allah has ordered "Palestinian" groups in Judea and Samaria to throw everything they've got at the Jews within their reach as soon as possible, obligating Israel to commit substantial forces to a third front.

Wrote Klein in his Galil Report:

Israel received information the Lebanese Hizb'allah militia had directed its Palestinian terror proxies, Islamic Jihad and the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades in particular, to commit an immediate act of terror today inside central Israel. ... Hizb'allah regularly directs Palestinian terror groups to carry out acts of terror, but the instructions today were unusual in the immediacy of the time frame -- attack within hours.

Few believe the assertions of Arab leaders that Hizb'allah and its "Palestinian" allies are acting on their own, without the knowledge, support and guidance of their patrons in Damascus and Tehran.

The goal of this onslaught is apparently to convince Israel of its inability to deal successfully with a coordinated large-scale terrorist offensive, thus applying additional pressure on Jerusalem to meet Arab political demands.

Either that, or we are witnessing the testing of a new Arab military tactic whereby a broad and sudden terrorist flare-up will thin out Israel's forces and make Israel a much softer target for an assault by regional powers.
