Hizb'allah says no to ceasefire

Threatens to hit Israel with new 'surprises'

Hizb'allah leaders Monday said they were interested in no ceasefire that is based on Israeli and international demands, and would gladly continue fighting Israel, even to the detriment of Lebanon.

Senior Hizb'allah official Abdullah Kasir told Agence France-Presse that Israel's internationally-backed terms - which include unconditionally releasing two abducted IDF soldiers, disarming Hizb'allah, and deploying the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon - are unacceptable to the terror group.

"We accept no conditions for a ceasefire, whatever the pressure."

Disregarding UN Security Council Resolution 1559, Kasir said the issue of deploying the Lebanese army along the country's southern border is for Lebanon alone to decide.

Kasir's statement indicates that even if Israel were to accept the ceasefire proposal put forward by Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora at the weekend, it would quickly be violated by Hizb'allah.

He said Hizb'allah is prepared to battle until the utter destruction of Lebanon, and will soon unleash new "surprises" on Israel.

"We will never leave, even if Lebanon is reduced to scorched earth. ...The Islamic Resistance has only begun to reveal its abilities and its forces."

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, meanwhile, said his nation's formula for ending the crisis consists of both sides ceasing hostilities, followed by Israel releasing thousands of jailed terrorists in return for its two soldiers.
