2 soldiers killed as IDF enters Lebanon
Army engaged in 'pinpoint' attacks on Hizb'allah positions
By Ryan Jones
July 19, 2006
Two Israeli soldiers were killed and another nine wounded, one seriously, when an IDF incursion force was engaged by Hizb'allah terrorists in southern Lebanon Wednesday afternoon.
Two terrorists were also killed in the clash.
A senior IDF officer told Ynet that Israeli ground forces entered southern Lebanon Wednesday to a depth of one kilometer to carry out pinpoint assaults on Hizb'allah outposts.
Israel intends to create a shallow buffer zone on the Lebanese side of the border, and not allow Hizb'allah to reestablish observation posts looking into northern Israel.
Military officials believe the IDF needs another 10-14 days to accomplish its objectives in Lebanon.
