For the Arab states - making peace with Israel has always meant finding a way to circumvent the Jewish state's superior strength in order to eventually secure its demise.

While hostility has frequently pitted one Arab state against another, the issue of Israel's destruction has always been able to unite them.

Saudi Arabia is widely believed to have been the initiator of the 'Road Map' plan that undergirds US President George W. Bush's 'two-state-solution.'

Now, in the wake of Israel's recent two-front war (against the Hizb'allah in Lebanon and the Hamas in Gaza) - a war many believe Israel lost - Arab states and organizations are understood to be formulating an "Arab vision" and have recently been meeting to this end.

They plan to draw up a document for submission to the United Nations in the near future.
