Israel has asked American defense contractor Lockheed Martin to accelerate modifications of its Skyshield anti-aircraft system to intercept incoming Katyusha rockets.
Skyshield consists of an advanced radar and rapid-fire cannons that intercept planes and missiles with 35mm shells that eject a cloud of 152 sub-projectiles just before impacting their target.
The expected result is that Hizb'allah's rockets will be destroyed mid-air before ever reaching the Israeli border.
