Israel Tuesday arrested the head of PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas' "presidential" guard, dubbed Force 17.
The man, Mahmoud Damra, has a long and storied history of violence against Israel that dates all the way back to the PLO's days in Lebanon.
Most recently, he is accused of providing arms to terrorist cells, particularly those affiliated with Force 17. Damra also participated in planning attacks that led to the murder of eight Israelis.
Damra is well loved within his Fatah faction, and his arrest and subsequent trial are expected to cause an uproar among the "Palestinians."
