According to a panel of Israeli political experts and leading journalists, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is the "best" of potential 2008 US presidential candidates as far as America's relationship with Israel is concerned.
Giuliani was followed on the list by former House Speaker Newt Gengrich, Arizona Senator John McCain and New York Senator Hillary Clinton.
Giuliani has long had a special relationship with the Jewish state. During his time as mayor, he ejected the PLO from New York and returned a large donation from an Arab prince hostile towards Israel.
The strong bonds only grew after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
