Russia is reportedly planning to deploy troops to southern Lebanon independent of UN forces already stationed there.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said the deployment would only be implemented with the agreement of all nations involved, and would number only 300 army engineers, whose primary task would be rebuilding bridges.
The news, however, raised questions about what would happen should those 300 Russians be caught in the crossfire of the next round of fighting and inadvertently killed by Israel.
