Lebanon's defense minister said it would be a "honor" to have Hizb'allah join the nation's official armed forces.
He said the group could remain together as an independent unit.
That formula has worked well for the Palestinian Arabs in terms of eliminating international rejection of certain groups.
Many members of PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction, for instance, serve as official "Palestinian" security officers and members of the movement's terrorist wings.
Their status as policemen under Abbas's command, however, has silenced all calls for their arrest and punishment.
