As Jews prepared to mark Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, evangelical Christians around the world also turned their faces toward God on Sunday in intercession for the Jewish state.
Some 30 million Christians in more than 100 nations were expected to participate in the annual "Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem."
The day's central event took place at the David's Tower museum in Jerusalem's Old City, and was attended by several Bible-believing Israeli Knesset members.
The international Day of Prayer was started by Rev. Robert Stearns of Eagles' Wings Ministries three years ago.
