Israel Sunday completed its withdrawal from southern Lebanon following the summer's 34-day war with Hizb'allah.
The pullout fulfills Israel's primary obligation under UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which brought an end to the fighting.
Unlike the May 2000 withdrawal, this pullout from Israel's northern neighbor was not accompanied by celebrations or declarations of a new era of security and stability.
With UN peacekeepers and the Lebanese authorities insisting they will not disarm Hizb'allah and will barely if at all limit its activities, most in Israel expect the next round of fighting is just around the corner.
