A senior "Palestinian" official warned Tuesday that that the ruling Hamas movement and PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah faction are on brink of full-scale civil war.
At least 13 people have been killed and more than 120 others wounded in the worst infighting in years.
The violence started on Sunday when Hamas government forces opened fire on Fatah-aligned PA policemen demonstrating in Gaza over their lack of pay since Hamas took power.
Israel, the US and much of Europe have imposed an economic embargo on the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority over the group's ongoing refusal to accept Israel's right to exist.
