Italy's foreign minister said Israel last week deliberately rained high-explosive shells down on Arab women and small children in Gaza's Beit Hanoun.
Massimo D'Alema, who holds his post at the pleasure of Italy's antisemitic prime minister, Romano Prodi, rejected Israel's findings that a technical error was responsible for the deaths of 20 civilians when the IDF responded to Kassam rocket attacks on November 8.
"There are some who say that the tragedy in Beit Hanoun was a mistake. But there was no mistake. What happened in Beit Hanoun is a result of political choices."
The reason Israel chose to cold-bloodedly murder those Arabs, alleged D'Alema, was in order for the Israeli government to "prove it is strong."
D'Alema, a veteran of Italian lawmaking, is the son of a highly-respected communist politician and has been Vice-Chairman of the Soocialist International since 1996.
