'What would France do?,' demands Israeli ambassador

As the UN General Assembly debated a resolution deploring Israel's fight against "Palestinian" rocket fire from Gaza, Israel's ambassador to the world body demanded to know what other nations would do in the Jewish state's place.

Turning to the representative of France, Israeli Ambassador Dan Gillerman demanded:

"France would not do those a favor who fire missiles at its own cities. Support for this resolution means doing terrorists a favor."

France ultimately supported the resolution, which passed by a vote of 156-7.

While stopping short of condemning Israel, the document expressed "regret" over Israel's accidental killing of 19 "Palestinian" civilians earlier this month in the course of battling terrorist rocket cells that have been besieging southern Israel towns for years.
