Hamas released a statement Wednesday saying that the only way missile attacks from Gaza on southern Israel will stop is if all Jews leave the town of Sderot.
Sderot has been hammered by more than 1,000 "Palestinian" missiles this year alone, and Hamas spokesman Abu Abaida said his and other terror groups retain the ability to pound the community indefinitely.
Israel's abandonment of Sderot would be a sign of weakness on par with last year's retreat from the Gaza Strip, and would cause Hamas' star to further rise among the Palestinian Arabs.
Ultimately, Hamas wants the Jews removed from all of the biblical land of Israel, which the group claims is Islamic land.
The Palestinian Arabs overwhelmingly elected Hamas to lead them earlier this year.
