A US politician has taken out advertisements in Jewish newspapers across America calling on Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to resign.

According to World Net Daily, Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D. Brooklyn) believes Olmert to be "a disaster on all levels."

In the year since his election the prime minister had "become an expert in failing over and over again."

Hikind believed Olmert failed in Lebanon, from which the Hizb'allah launched its war against Israel last July; in Sderot, the Negev town that is without letup under Kassam attack; and in the Gaza Strip, from which rockets are being fired daily, and into which tens of tons of weapons for use against Israel are being successfully smuggled.

"He is weak when he should be strong, demonstrating ineptitude and incompetence in the face of growing threats from Hamas, Hizb'allah, Iran, and Syria," Hikind said in his ads.

"Olmert is arrogant, refusing to acknowledge and apologize for the defeat in Lebanon. ... [He] does not have what it takes to lead Israel: integrity, decisiveness, determination, vision, strength and skill."

Hikind also feared for Israel-US relations which, he said, were being damaged during Olmert's tenure.
