America will stand by Israel against the Iranian nuclear threat. At least this was the calming message conveyed in Jerusalem by US Ambassador Richard Jones Tuesday.
"Israel's security and well being are of vital importance to the United States," he said.
With Iran repeatedly vowing to destroy Israel even as Tehran races to acquire nuclear weapons, that security was very much under threat.
Jones went on to stress that President George W. Bush considered solving the Israeli-'Palestinian' conflict to be one of his "greatest objectives" before leaving the White House.
Bush has not been willing to acknowledge that the land-for-peace process he is so committed to, and which has already weakened Israel in the face of the burgeoning Iranian aggression, itself constitutes the most serious threat to Israel's security.
