An 18-year-old Israeli Arab girl was shot dead in her bedroom in the town of Ramla Tuesday in a suspected "honor killing."
These murders - which are committed throughout the Islamic world - have been defined as the killing of a girl or woman "for her actual or perceived immoral behavior."
By killing her the husband, brother, father, or even son, believes that the family's honor is restored.
While fewer 'honor killings' take place in Israel than in other parts of the Arab world, around five a year are investigated by the police.
Under the Palestinian Authority, these murders are allowed.
