Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office Saturday confirmed last week's revelations that secret talks were held with Syria in the summer of 2006.
The talks took place between Olmert's chief of staff and a Syrian-American businessman.
They continued until 10 days after the Syrian-supported Hizb'allah kinapped two Israeli soldiers on the border with Lebanon.
Reportedly thrown around during these discussions was Israel's willingness to give the Golan Heights to Syria, alowing the border to be redrawn along the Sea of Galilee as it was between 1949 and 1967.
Those 19 years saw unrelenting Syrian aggression and terrorism directed against Jews living below the Heights.
