An Arab "suicide" bomber blew himself up in a bakery in the Israeli Red Sea resort of Eilat Monday, killing at least two people.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Fatah's Al-Aqsa Brigades claimed credit for the attack.

Hamas, which holds a majority in the Palestinian Authority, called the murderous act a "natural response to Israeli policies."

Fatah's official response was also its traditional one. It said the attack was an "operation" and claimed it was against the targeting of "civilians."

For the Palestinian Arab leadership, terrorist attacks have always been "military operations" and Israeli men, women and children are not "civilians" but part of the "occupying enemy power."

Israeli police warned that more bombers could be loose in the city, after Egyptian authorities announced they had captured a would-be attacker in the Sinai Sunday.

The Israel-Egypt border at Taba was closed both ways following the bombing.

According to the mayor of Eilat, the bombing victims were likely city residents and not tourists.

With its balmy winter weather, Eilat is a magnet for people from all over Europe seeking to escape the cold.
