Israeli troops on Wednesday shot dead the Islamic Jihad terror boss who dispatched a would-be "suicide" bomber captured by police in Tel Aviv a day earlier.
According to witnesses, undercover Israeli soldiers surprised Mahmoud Abu Ubayed as he was driving in Jenin, and riddled his vehicle with bullets.
Abu Ubayed and his cell have been behind numerous bombing against Israeli civilians.
Tuesday's bombing was thwarted after the would-be bomber, under circumstances described as "mysterious" by Israeli officials, decided to stash his explosives and hide in an apartment rather than blow himself up immediately at Tel Aviv's central bus station.
