If international diplomatic efforts to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons fail, Israel is perfectly capable of dealing with the Islamic Republic all on its own.
So said Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman in a briefing to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Wednesday.
"Israel has the capability to deal with the Iranian threat, even in the worst case scenario in which our friends throughout the world stop dealing with the threat and we are left on our own," he told the gathered lawmakers.
Lieberman stressed, however, that it is in the world's interest to stop Iran now, and prevent the devastating arms race that would ensure if the Islamic Republic were to go nuclear.
