The Palestinian state of Gaza continued to self destruct on Sunday as rival gunmen from the ruling Hamas and Fatah factions engaged in bloody street battles.
A senior local Hamas field commander was killed and seven other people were wounded when forces belonging to both groups engaged in a fierce armed clash in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun.
Both sides blamed each other for starting the fight.
The death marked the first self-inflicted "Palestinian" fatality since Hamas and Fatah agreed in Mecca last month to stop fighting each other and form a unity government.
Well over 100 "Palestinians" have been killed by their own and many hundreds more wounded since the two groups started fighting last November.
