Arabs seek repeat victory in Judea-Samaria

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s plan to unilaterally retreat from the Gaza Strip is seen by the Palestinian Arabs as a major victory in their war against the Jewish state, and one they would like to repeat in Judea and Samaria.

If unrelenting terrorist bombings, shooting and artillery attacks can push a renowned warrior like Sharon to abandon Gaza, the “Palestinians” believe the same is possible in other areas of the biblical Land of Israel they claim as their own, the IDF’s monthly journal B’Machaneh reported in its current edition.

Citing a “high ranking intelligence officer,” the journal said the strategic goal of the Palestinian Arabs was to “do in Judea and Samaria what they succeeded in doing in Gaza,” Arutz 7 reported Sunday.

"The terror organizations will adopt the model of Israel's retreat from Gaza, and will try to cause us to run away under fire from Judea and Samaria as well," the officer explained.

To that end, the “Palestinians” had of late increased efforts to introduce Kassam rockets and other long-range weapons into Judea and Samaria, he said.

"In the short-term future the terror organizations are liable to attain the ability to fire Kassam rockets at many Jewish locales within the Green Line, including Jerusalem and Ben Gurion Airport.”

Arutz 7 noted that several Palestinian Authority spokesmen have admitted that it is was Israel’s hasty retreat from southern Lebanon in May 2000 that encouraged them to launch what has become known as the Oslo War.
