Third of Israeli youth fears second Holocaust

For more than 60 years the vow "never again" has been declared against a repeat of the Nazi-perpetrated Holocaust that exterminated fully one-third of the world's Jews.

And yet one-third of today's young Jews in Israel fear that a second Holocaust could indeed once again decimate what is left of their people.

This is according to a poll carried out by the Anti-Defamation League, the results of which were published in the Israeli press Sunday.

Most the world's estimated 13 million Jews are born into an awareness of antisemitism. From the youngest age they learn that their nation has for millennia experienced relentless hatred, persecution and destruction.

The Holocaust stands as the most fearsome example of the fruits of universal Jew-hatred.

Today, Jews see that the gentile world - east and west - is aligned in opposition to their homeland.

While Iran races to acquire nuclear weapons and talks about wiping Israel off the map, the never-ending anti-Israel media coverage stokes antisemitic sentiments around the world.

Prominent European leaders have verbalized their abhorrence of the Jewish state, in recent years denigrating Israel publicly and even going so far as to say that permitting its creation in 1948 was the biggest mistake the world made in the last century.

Unsurprisingly, then, a number of Jews have expressed the fear that in another 40 years - one century after the Holocaust - Israel will be no more.
