The Arab artillery siege of Gaza’s Jewish residents continued this week, culminating the death of an Israeli woman when mortar shells slammed into a home in the settlement of Neve Dekalim Friday morning.
The victim was later identified as 24-year-old Tiferet Tratner of Jerusalem. Another woman was lightly wounded in the attack.
Hamas claimed credit for the deadly barrage. Shortly after, IDF tanks shelled the source of the mortar fire in the nearby PA-controlled town of Khan Yunis.
Overnight, the Jews of Morag in southern Gaza’s Katif Bloc endured a barrage of eight mortar shells. Miraculously, there were no injuries.
And continuing their assault on sovereign Israeli territory, Palestinian Arab forces operating out of northern Gaza fired several Kassam rockets at the nearby Negev town of Sderot Thursday.
One woman was treated for shrapnel wounds following that bombardment, and several others suffered from shock.
As Israel prepares to mark Yom Kippur – the Day of Atonement – security forces are on high alert in an effort to thwart Islamic attempts to murder more Jewish men, women and children.
