For the second time in two weeks an Israeli soldier has paid with his life as the IDF tries in vain to keep a lid on burgeoning terrorism in the Gaza Strip.
According to The Jerusalem Post reservist First Sgt. Ehud Efrati, 34, the father of three small children, was killed.
Another soldier was seriously wounded, and two more were lightly wounded while working to dismantle terrorist infrastructure near the fence that separates Gaza from the rest of Israel.
One Arab terrorist was taken out.
The violence continued unabated Monday afternoon, with Arabs firing four mortars towards Israeli forces near the fence.
Gaza's "Palestinians" have kept up virtually uninterrupted waves of attacks against Israeli targets since the uprooting of the strip's Jewish communities in August 2005.
The readiness of Israel's previous government, under the leadership of the now-comatose Ariel Sharon - to surrender Gaza to the Arabs so that they could begin to build a Palestinian state in the "soft underbelly of the Jewish state" has only resulted in increased terrorism and danger to Israel's security and Israeli lives
On October 17, Golani Brigade soldier 20-year-old Ben Kubany was shot and seriously wounded fighting "Palestinian" terrorists near the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis.
Kubany succumbed to his wounds on the way to hospital.
