A 21-year-old soldier in an elite IDF unit was killed Wednesday in a "Palestinian" ambush in southern Gaza while carrying out counter-terrorism operations.
Bisan Sayef was part of a team searching out terrorist infrastructure near the Gaza-Sinai border - an area that has become a superhighway for smuggling weapons and explosives into the "Palestinian"-controlled Strip.
In what was described as a well-planned ambush, Arabs fired on the soldiers using rifles and anti-tank missiles, killing Sayef and lightly wounding two others.
One of the attackers was taken out and at least four others were wounded in return fire from the Israeli force, according to "Palestinian" sources.
The ambush took place a day after tank-supported Golani Brigade soldiers killed three Palestinian Arabs in the northern part of Gaza.
